Restaurant Review: Epsom Turkish Kebab, Epsom

Apart from the eateries in the city, there are also quite a few places within the suburbs that are worth looking into. And so me and my friend decided, one afternoon, to check and see if there are any available. As it happened we were on our way to check another restaurant when we came across the Epsom Turkish kebab eatery, of which my friend’s also heard good things about. Seeing the other restaurant was full, it appears that we were either having kebabs for dinner or go hungry while we wait for a table to clear up(which will definitely take a while with 3 groups waiting ahead of us already!).

So we headed into a surprisingly clean kebab shop, with fairly new and clean furnishings as well as a kitchen that appeared also quite clean. We were starting to feel confident about this place being a good place to dine at.

Chicken Shish

And it was. For my pick of dinner, I ordered their Chicken Shish, which was Grilled chicken tenderloins with the usual sides (hummus and salad) and Mediterranean rice. Even though it took a good 10 minutes for them to make it, it was worth the wait; the chicken tenderloins were marinated just right and grilled with a juicy consistency that made eating very enjoyable. Although the strips were slightly thicker than normal and thus some knife work is required, the meat was not overcooked and was not too flaky either (unlike the chicken breasts I find frequently from KFC), and the salads were fairly fresh. I think I probably made a mistake in picking Garlic yoghurt, BBQ, and mayonnaise as the sauce combination (BBQ, Chilly sauce and garlic yogurt is probably better) but it didn’t deter me from finishing the meal! For around $12 (I forget!) it was a pretty good deal, and the Baklava they sell their for $3 is fairly good value for money too!

Overall, I’d say this is an ideal takeaway venue whenever you have a craving for good kebab (which I’m looking forward to try next time) and happen to be in the neighborhood. There are roughly 4 tables in the shop so not much room for eating there, but more than enough room for a small gathering with mates!
